I am a dad of 12yr old, soon to be 13 going into the 7th grade. I thoroughly enjoyed this material and he seemed to like it as well. We laughed, talked and had a great bonding experience. I highly recommend this to be used by all parents of pre-teens and teens. I work for a Christian ministry as an abstinence educator within the public schools. I can't go into detail of all things, like this material does, due to time restraints nor can I delve into the spiritual side of it because I am in a public school setting. This material develops the foundation that is most definitely needed in our society. As a parent you can't just do this material and then expect everything to go correctly if you don't review the material again at a different time and if you don't have on going conversations with your child about these things. This material is meant to teach your child the importance of delayed dating, standing up to peer pressure and the importance of sexual abstinence, of all kinds of sexual/physical, activities until marriage. Whether you, as a parent, believe that it's okay for your child to kiss, hug or hold hands or not before marriage is totally up to you; the material suggest and encourages to not kiss until marriage. Either way, don't allow that to deter you from utilizing this material.Here's my only complaint, and this may not apply to you and your child: this is a lot of material and I recommend that you don't just rush through it. I suggest stretching it out the entire weekend, into Sunday. Take breaks when needed, pause the cds and talk when needed. Take questions and discuss as much as possible.
You and your child will be blessed and challenged.

I have spent the last few years working in family ministry, including parent education. I have searched for and read many resources to equip parents and engage their kids in conversations about God's design for sex and love for purity, so I was eager to actually use this one with my daughter entering middle school. I let my daughter know almost a month in advance that we had a weekend reserved for us to go away and do a study together, and I gave her a few options to choose the fun activity we'd do to break it up. You definitely need to plan ahead with this, both to have the time you need for the sessions and to have the materials you'd need for the object lessions, which required purchasing a list of things the week before. And then having a special gift for your son or daughter will really help them remember all you've talked about and the time devoted to him or her. As far as the material is concerned, it was very good and the books for each of us were clear and helpful. I was not afraid to to fast forward through some of the memory verse songs or a few parts where I would talk more personally and quickly when she was fading a little. When dating philosophies were discussed you might have some differences one way or another, but I still believe these are useful to begin your discussions and to respect how other Christians might view the subject. Also, be forewarned that the CD tracks on masturbation and pornography are considered optional, so you need to listen ahead of time and make the decision about how you will use them. This was part of an incredible weekend of blessing for me and my daughter, and even a turning point -- her constant desire to debate us has lessened, as she realizes more we are always "for her."
This is EXCELLENT! I know it says to take a weekend, that would be ok, if you totally focus on just this, but we took a few extra days and made a beach trip out of it, but it is REALLY good! REALLY a great program. I recommend listening to each of the CDs before you go. Be prepared for the question(s) you might get. This is SO well done! We may even revisit some of the CDs again. I used this for my 11 year old daughter and she was the perfect age. I knew that the other kids in public school would get a "sex ed" class in 5th grade, so we got the jump before we ran into our friends hearing the public school version. I cannot tell you enough how wonderfully this is presented! The only drawback would be less sections to stop and find again not he CD, but thats a MINOR issue... AND the fill-in-the-blank words should be emphasized when they speak them on the CD... that was a bit hard to follow a few times. (I hope that makes sense)

Cant say enough about this set! I actually took my son, not my husband and it went perfect. But I will say we are not shy people in the least so it may get uncomfortable for you or your son/ daughter but God will get you through it! I love the fact that it just isnt saying do not do it but rather WHY your child shouldnt! It takes in my opinion a full weekend and just a willingness to do every step and follow the directions and it will be a great gift for not only your child but you also!

Had the greatest time with my girl. I accidentally ordered 2 of these, but am going to give one away because it's too good to send back. If more parents would take time to do this with their kids, it would benefit us all. My 13 year old enjoyed it and opened up about what would normally be hard topics to discuss. Great guidance.
Love this kit. We had the first edition and had to buy the second edition for our younger son. This is worth your time and effort...and money. If you want to be the one to share God's design for marriage, sex and all things in that category, buy this! You won't regret it!
This was one of the best things I have ever done with my daughter. We did it the summer before middle school and I took her to a hotel for the weekend. For the last night my husband met us for dinner and we presented her with a promise ring. The weekend ended with her choosing to make a commitment in front of our church and being baptized. We will be doing this with our other children. You do not need to get anything other than this kit as all the activities can be gathered from your home or purchased from the dollar store very affordable.
