Genre: Male/Male, Cowboys, Hurt/comfort, Out-for-youMC1: Les Hardin
MC2: Randy Hersch
Storyline:
After a massive head injury caused by a hoof during a jumping competition ended Les's show career with a six-month coma and the need to relearn how to do everything - walk, talk, eat - as well as ended his long-term relationship with his partner, Les bought a ranch in Wyoming where he takes in creatures that aren't wanted anywhere else.
Randy somewhat unwillingly goes home to recuperate after getting smashed by his rodeo horse hoping that maybe this time things will be different and his bigoted father will at least let him heal in peace. He meets Les while Les is taking some unwanted horses from the family's ranch to save them from being destroyed. After he gets into a fight with his father and is "asked" to leave the family home, Les offers him a place to stay until he has to rejoin the rodeo circuit.
Randy learns that Les is openly gay and that no one stays on or is employed at Les's ranch unless (s)he is a tolerant person. Les wants his home to be a safe place and refuses to hide who he is. Randy has never been out of the closet (but very much would like to be) and is afraid to allow himself to be truly who he is at first, but after spending some time with Les and his people Randy begins to open up.
Rodeo has never been Randy's lifelong wish for a career, it was a way to escape home and after being back on the circuit and spending time away from Les, Randy discovers that home really is where the heart is.
Conflict:
No real conflict. Just one young man having to come to terms with his sexuality and learning that love is more important that what other people think.
My Thoughts:
This is a nice feel-good read. Les is a slightly older man who's been through a life-changing experience so he's decided that he's going to live his life in the open and to the fullest. He's created a safe haven for people and animals who need one. Very little drama. I liked it enough that I'd be willing to continue with the series.

This is my first book by this author and it is a great story .. Liked the way the same develops and how Randy finally after years of knowing his sexuality opens up to his true self. He has suffered from fear and being mistreated by his dad. He meets Les when he comes to visit his sister to his family ranch. Les and Randy liked each other instantly but Randy struggles with his sexuality in public. After fighting with his father Randy gets Les to protect him and show him compassion. . What is really good about the way the story develops is that they communicate with one another. Les shows Randy that with love and dreams can become true. I also liked the secondary characters especially Tony who is a good friend to both.
This is my first read by this author, but most definitely not my last! As long as he continues to write, I'll continue to digest his words! Hopefully I can entice you to read this most exquisite romantic piece without spoiling it for you.
Randy Hersch and Les Hardin; two men broken, one in spirit, the other in spirit AND body. One takes in strays, those which others have deemed useless; the other rides the rodeo, after having been told his whole life that he is worthless. They will teach each other not only to dream once again, but to also believe in dreams.
T.A. Chase wonderfully portrays their journey together through passion, compassion and genuine understanding. Hopefully Les and Randy will not be the only ones who have learned a few lessons when you part ways with them.

I love westerns so combining that genre and M/M romances was nirvana. I read this lengthy paperback on the weekend of 10-11-09. I was very very surprised how good this book was especially after not liking the second work by this author NOWHERE DINER. This was more on par with ALLERGIES. Really liked it from the very beginning. Just the perfect coming out / family follow up to Sean Michael's FINE AS FROG HAIR. Ranches / rodeos / bronc busters / bull riders / family drama / interracial couple / mean father /closeted son/neighbors/ cattle / horses /dressage -horse shows / accidents debilitating crippling rejects/ second chances / out ranch owner/ first times / being comfortable with self / falling in love / siblings / long book
Going home has different meanings to everyone. For Randy it means spending as much time on his family’s ranch and with his sister before he comes to fighting blows with his father. He has decided that his most recent injury will be best mended at this home. After just a few days he sees that his father will not allow it, but the neighboring ranch may just be the place he was always looking for and never knew would exist for him.
Hardin Stables is a bit different from most. The owner has a soft place in his heart for the unwanted and strays in general. Knowing what it is like to be cast aside Les has opened his home and heart to those. Les also knows from personal experience that good can come from bad experiences. He sees in Randy exactly that. In opening his home Les is hoping to open Randy’s mind and heart.
There is a whole lot of sexy goodness going on in the pages of No Going Home. There were also a few things that were loose and a little too easy going for me. I like difficult struggles that my main characters have to conquer. One of the struggles here was Randy coming out of the closet. It was Randy’s own struggle. It seemed to me that everyone he knew already knew he was gay and completely okay with it. That left little tension.
